Scooter Tow Course completed

What a great trip last week. How can it not be - hanging out in the sun (while it's snowing AGAIN at home), catching up with friends, existing at Wallaby....but the main reason for going was to check out the the scooter towing clinic.

I'm going to be tackling some hang gliding instruction and I want to do it right. WillsWing funded Steve Wendt from BlueSky to come down to Wallaby and put on this FREE scooter tow course. It's the ideal way to teach (and learn) the basics of hang gliding. You can take someone with ZERO knowledge of hang gliding, hook them up on the WillsWing Condor training glider and pull them along the flat ground just a few feet off of the ground for a thousand feet. Zero risk.

Steve was a fantastic instructor - it was obvious he had the experience (says he's done over 20,000 tows with his winch) and was very prepared to do this clinic. Had all the gear (three different models of gliders and two different powers of winches) to really give us a feel for what it takes.

The weather didn't completely cooperate but we were able to rotate thru all the glider and also operate both the winches to get a feel for what it takes. It's incredibly easy and I can't wait to get our own gear to start our own school...hopefully by June of this year.

This is a shot of me getting towed (note the line attached to me) and you can see that my feet are barely off of the ground. The gliders are sooooo stable, it's tough to make it turn. And if the student does, the winch operator releases tension and in a second, you are rolling to a stop on your big wheels.

Here are some pictures from the clinic.
